Advice and ideas to help you with your wedding gift list

If you have guests dotted around the globe, an e-weddinglist could be just what you need….

September 26th, 2011

Planning your wedding or civil partnership can become an admin nightmare; getting every detail right and communicating with an endless list of guests is a mammoth task, which can be extra daunting when friends and family are based overseas.

Newly wed’s Laura and Ken faced just such a challenge prior to their wedding this July, but found that organising their wedding gift list online through www.e-weddinglist.co.uk made the process a cinch when accounting for guests based abroad, in Florida. The couple found that their e-weddinglist made it simple and easy for guests near and far to choose a gift, either through direct links to online stores where gifts can be purchased and delivered direct to the happy couple, or ‘promising to buy’ an item, which they could then wrap personally and present to Laura and Ken on their big day. According to Laura, such flexibility made the process hitch-free:

‘e-weddinglist.co.uk was a massive help when it came to sorting out the wedding gifts across two different countries. Thanks for making your website so easy to use and providing us with support throughout the process – a fantastic, forward thinking service’.

So if you are planning a gift list for your wedding or civil partnership and need to coordinate easily with faraway family and friends, consider using e-weddinglist.co.uk, the ideal flexible and stress-free solution!

And so to the marital bed….

August 15th, 2011

Autumn and winter are just around the corner and I can think of no better way to celebrate being newly married than having a cosy, comfortable bed!

Every little helps when it comes to replacing big items of furniture, and through our online wedding lists you can find a solution: simply ask guests to pledge as much or as little as they can towards big items on your e-wedding list, and make your new bed a reality!

And So to Bed is an amazing store that is offering up to 20% off furniture and linen in it’s current sale. Check out the options on offer…

-Their ‘Rodin’ sleigh bed (pictured) is an absolute beauty, what a welcoming retreat for man and wife after a hard day! A 5’0 comes in at £4050 in the sale.

-If a big brass bed is more your style, the ‘Hardy’ is a shining example, now at just £1850 for a 5’0 frame.

-The ‘Louis XV’ caned bedstead is sure to inject some romance into the bedroom, and is my personal favourite – tres chic! This 5’0 bedstead is also on offer at £2525.

So consider you options; you could use your e-weddinglist to ask friends and family to promise towards your bed-fund, or indeed any large item that you need for your home, from any retailer!

‘Home-spun’ approach becomes latest wedding craze……

August 9th, 2011

The current fashion for all things vintage is leading many couples to look back in time, creating a new trend in wedding planning: the ‘back-yard’ big day, where you hire-in the whole shebang from glassware to bunting, using your own garden as the venue.

Here at e-weddinglist.co.uk, we have discovered companies that offer vintage crockery, glass and silverware for hire and stunning flower arrangements and bouquets, to complete your traditional garden wedding (fitting details made all the more affordable by the money saved on venue hire!). The beauty of this idea is that you and your spouse have complete control over every aspect of your wedding and can marry in a place that you know and love. You can not only save money on decorations by playing-up features of your garden with simple white fairy lights, but hire everything from chairs to glassware, exactly to your spec. No constraints!

As our bespoke online wedding list allows you the freedom to ask guests to pledge towards literally anything, why not ask for contributions towards the cost of your home-spun wedding day?

www.backyardweddings.co.uk offers various packages to suit all budgets; everything is provided from marquee and chandelier to afternoon tea and a cider stand, all priced and packaged according to the size of your garden, number of guests, and your all important budget. With this option, guests can choose to contribute as much or as little as they want towards the overall cost of your special day – just ask them to ‘promise’ a contribution in your e-wedding gift list.

Should you want a truly bespoke day, The Traditional Flower Company, www.traditionalflower.co.uk grows a gorgeous range of English flowers and herbs to create the most beautiful, quintessentially English wedding bouquets, table decorations and button holes, along with pretty vintage crocks and cutlery for wedding hire. They will even set aside your own section of poly-tunnel on their Staffordshire farm, where your selected seasonal flowers can be cultivated ready for your big day. Through your e-wedding list, you could ask guests to contribute towards the flowers, the vintage table ware, or indeed any element, helping to create the perfect garden wedding.

So tidy up your back yard or commandeer your parent’s lovingly nurtured garden, and explore the option of having your wedding at home!

Calling all wine lovers: great deals for your online wedding list!

July 26th, 2011

If, like me, you are partial to the odd glass of wine, a canny way of ensuring you have a stocked wine rack (or cellar if you are lucky!) as you set out on married life is to add some cases to your online e-wedding gift list. After all, staying in is the new going out and there can be no better way to enjoy an autumnul night by the fire with your beloved than with a cracking bottle of Shiraz!

Supermarkets have great wine selections; bringing you fabulous bottles for rock bottom prices, with many now also selling by the case like proper wine merchants. With an e-wedding list you can add links direct to these great wine offers for your guests to ‘pledge to buy’ – flexible, easy and convenient! Here are some of the mouth-watering current deals that I have discovered which should keep you rosy cheeked and merry well into the party season and beyond:

  • Chateauneurf-du-Pape is on the cheap at Waitrose; a great wine to stockpile for serving with Christmas lunch, this Chateauneurf-du-Pape will stand up well to rich food and is amazing value at £130.92 for a case of 12 – less than eleven quid per bottle…..Get in there quick. www.waitrosewine.co.uk
  • This is seriously good stuff at half-price….Marks and Spencer are offering this Abel Charlot NV Champagne – commended in this year’s Decanter Wine Awards – for just £81 per case of 6, reduced from £162! You will need a nice bottle to chill for your wedding anniversary, so make sure you add a case to your online wedding list. www.marksandspencer.com
  • You can snap up a case of this fantastic Chablis from Tesco for a mere £60 for 6 bottles, it is currently mega cheap at 44% off! This Premier Cru example is typically flinty and to-die-or with seafood, what’s more you can enjoy it over the next couple of years, if you manage to lay it down that long. www.tesco.com/wine
  • If a big Australian red is more your thing Tesco has a crazy offer on their Swingbridge Margaret River Shiraz. The 2008 vintage is full bodied and perfect with meaty casseroles and gorgeous roast pork, and with 50% off is just £39 per case of 6. At this price, stick a couple of cases on your e–weddinglist, I’m sure your guests will appreciate it when they come over for future dinner parties! www.tesco.com/wine

Bottoms-up!
