Advice and ideas to help you with your wedding gift list

How to name and group together the items on your wedding gift list

Today’s blog has been inspired by a question sent in by one of our couples. They write saying that they love using the wedding list, it was just what they were looking for, but they would like to categorise their gifts to make it easier for their guests to browse the list.

naming wedding giftsI have replied suggesting that they prefix the name field with a relevant word such as ‘Kitchen –‘ as all items are listed alphabetically they will be grouped together.

In the same way, if you are putting a dinner service on your list you should prefix all items with the name of the dinner service so they are all grouped together.

You could use ‘Copy and Paste’ to save you typing out repetitive words. If you highlight ‘Sophie Conran’ and press ‘CTRL + C’ (on a PC) the phrase will be saved to your clipboard allowing you to press ‘CTRL + V’ on your keyboard each time you want to use it.

The name you enter for the wedding gift is the first description of the item that your guest will see; it is likely that they will make a decision off the back of what they read too – so it is a good idea to write a descriptive name that is useful.

As always, have fun writing your list – but it is worth putting in that little bit of time to add a few extra details to help your wedding guests.
