A new online wedding gift service launches for traditional couples (29/10/07)
e-weddinglist.co.uk, a new online wedding gift list service that launched earlier this month, aims to bring a return to the traditional way of choosing and giving presents to a bride and her groom.
The e-weddinglist website lets the happy couple choose their ideal gift list online, which means that you won't be tied to a particular shop and your friends and family can buy it for you wherever it suits them. They will also be able to wrap and personally deliver the gift themselves.
"The idea for the website came from my family when we were discussing my brother's upcoming wedding," founder Penny Parrott says. "We all agreed how impersonal it was to order a gift online and then have the store wrap it and deliver it for you in a job lot with other presents. It just seems to take the joy out of giving a gift to wish the happy couple well in their future together."
The website manages the gift list for each couple, allowing them to add and delete gifts as necessary and see which gifts have been promised. Gift wish cards to send to your guests with your invites can also be ordered from the website, at no additional cost.

The twist with this site is it isn't a shop, instead it's a 'promise to buy' site. And what's one of those? The idea is simple, you create a gift list of anything you like whether it's charity donations, honeymoon contributions or general gifts with item listings as vague or as detailed as you like, send out cards in your invitations to view your e-Wedding List, your guests are then free to shop around where ever they like giving them great savings. You, meanwhile, get a fabulous pressie without knowing the price. Set up costs £35 to the couple and free for friends and family to use.
“I wanted to create a gift list service that was not only flexible but that also put some of the joy back into the art of giving and receiving wedding gifts," says founder Penny Parrott. "As a guest, it’s so impersonal to order a gift online and then have the store wrap it and deliver it for you in a job lot with other presents. It’s so much nicer to choose a gift and to give it to the happy couple yourself.” |
