An exciting new concept in wedding gift lists sees a return to the traditional
A new online wedding gift list service, e-weddinglist.co.uk, has just been launched which brings a return to the traditional way of choosing and giving presents to the happy couple.
The e-weddinglist website allows brides and grooms to enter their list of desired gifts online without tying it into a particular shop. This leaves friends and family free to choose a gift from the online list and then purchase it from anywhere they want to. This allows them to shop around for the best price and gives them the opportunity to wrap and personally deliver their gift.
As Penny Parrott, founder of e-weddinglist, explains, this approach is a return to the traditional way gifts were bought for the couple. “The idea for the website came from my family when we discussing my brother’s upcoming wedding. We all agreed how impersonal it was to order a gift online and then have the store wrap it and deliver it for you in a job lot with other presents. It just seems to take the joy out of giving a gift to wish the happy couple well in their future together.”
And so e-weddinglist.co.uk was born. Brides and grooms can set up a wedding list online and give as much detail they like about the sort of gift they want to receive. They can enter anything, from the usual request for a toaster and towels to requests for vouchers or charity donations. Sarah Hidderley recently set up her wedding gift list for her summer wedding. Sarah says: “It was great to be able to put down exactly what we wanted and not be tied just to things that one particular store stocked. I also liked the fact that we didn’t have to be specific – for example, we simply put down ‘glass vase’ for one item, leaving it for our friends to choose the exact style of vase.”
The website manages the gift list for each couple, allowing them to add and delete gifts as necessary and see which gifts have been promised. All information is available to download, including friends’ contact details to make the sending of ‘thank you’ cards that bit easier. Gift wish cards to put in with invites can also be ordered from the website, at no additional cost.
e-weddinglist.co.uk is not a shop, nor is it an agent for other shops. It is unique in that wedding guests can shop anywhere.
e-weddinglist.co.uk features a ‘promise to buy’ system. Friends and family ‘promise to buy’ an item and that item is then removed from the list. They are free to change their mind at any time.
Any Items can be listed and other gift lists can be linked to.
The wedding list is managed online by the bride and groom, using a simple system.
Gift list cards with contact details for e-weddinglist.co.uk can be downloaded from the website for inclusion with your wedding invites if required.
Friends’ contact details can be downloaded from the website to help with writing thank you cards.
The cost of setting up a gift list is £35. It is free for friends and family to use.
